Trying to get my phone to properly read my 8GB SD card. When my SD card is placed in phone it acts as if it still had my old SD card with only 2GB

Have you rebooted the phone with the SD Card in it? And do you properly unmount it? Go to Settings --> Storage --> Unmount SD Card?

If the card was formatted as 2gb then thats what everything will see unless you reformat the card as 8gb. Reformatting will destroy anything on the card so be sure to have it backed up in another location first

He's Saying he has a formatted 8GB but it's still only showing as a 2GB which is the old card he had in there. Looks like to me some system glitch didn't unmount or detect the unsafe unmount and thinks the 8GB is still a 2GB.

THAT or what kind of phone is it?? The phone just may not be able to see past 2GB. I know my parents old Flip Phones if you put in a 4Gb or higher SDHC in it it only see's it as a 2GB card.
