I am fairly sure my Corsair AX760 power supply is instantly killing any SATA drive I connect it to. So far 6 hard drives, a DVD drive, and my SSD are all dead with the rest of the components working fine. Yesterday I got 3 hard drives and tested them in my USB HDD dock and they were working fine. I installed 2 of them in my computer and turned it on. The BIOS said that all of the SATA ports are empty. I pull the drives back out and retest them in the USB dock. Now they won't spin up or make any noise and vibration at all.

It seems weird that my Asus Maximus VI Hero motherboard, 4770k, and 2 GTX 760s are still working fine when my SATA drives are being annihilated.

hi Drendo
seems you have a big problem on your hands ,
this surprises me because the ax series of psu's are a quality psu with high grade japanese capacitors and especially this platinum PSU
are you sure the modular peripheral ( molex cable ) is plugged into the correct female socket on the PSU ?

Yes, the cables are designed to only plug in to the correct place on the power supply. I thought about it and I realized that my problems started when I installed my water cooling parts. I used a paper clip to short circuit the 24 pin connector since I didn't have the special jumper for it. You are supposed to short any green wire to a black wire, but since all of the wires are black in a black sleeve, I had a hard time figuring out which were supposed to be the green and black wires. I probably accidentally damaged the power supply myself. Has anyone ever heard of something like this happening? The power supply should have built in protection for these kinds of things...
