Hi guys I'm wondering if the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo would be good enough to cool down the i7 4790k clocked at 4ghz and turbo clock at 4,4 ghz ??

CPU Cooler : http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/hype...

CPU : http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K...

Thanks !

The i7-4790k stock speeds are 4.0GHz (4.4GHz turbo) so yeah it should cool the CPU just fine

Hi H3llF1re1000
a good choice for a higher overclock and a cooler that is compareable with the nhd14 and will give you no ram interference issues and
is 1mm taller than the evo is the nzxt havik 140 , here is a review

I think ill still go with the 212 evo because my ram isnt that high

thats fine , the 212 evo is still a good cooler , just thought you might be interested in a cheap cooler for not that much more than the evo that will help you achive better overclocks

CM stuff is good but if you want to get that extra 2 or 3 degrees cooler then get this stuff http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH... (I used a UK link but should be available in most regions)

nah 2 - 3 degrees not really worth it for me

Same lol, I'm using the CM stuff myself :)

and btw i will be doing the push and pull figuration on the hyper 212 evo so its more than enough to cool down the i7 4790k right ?

tbh, you wont get a huge increase in performance using push-pull on the 212 EVO, I used to run it but I get similar temps when just using a push configuration, maybe 4% higher but the noise was too much to handle lol

If you've got a spare 120mm fan then try it, it won't do you any harm lol, but i wouldn't spend more cash on another fan if you haven't got one

Go for it then :)  The heatsink comes with extra fan mounts for any 120mm fan, just remember to orientate it correctly :)

Still worth a try to see what difference in temps it makes :)

but isnt it bad when i do push and pull with a fan that is slower than the fan that comes with the hyper 212 evo ?

Nope, should be absolutely fine

if using a case fan , make it the pull fan as it will likely have no static pressure to push air through the heatsink
