That's not the name of your motherboard, but if you're upgrading it doesn't matter.

You can upgrade your motherboard and CPU, there are ways to do it without having to reinstall windows, but a fresh install is recommended for best results.

oh sorry... well thats the description under motherboard for my pc specs.. so can i upgrade to an i7 4770k? also what motherboard do you suggest i get ?

Well, the A8-5600k isn't a terrible processor. So if you want to play newer games, your best bet would be to invest in a discrete GPU. That would be the cheapest route that will give you the most bang for your buck.

You do have an FM2+ socket motherboard, so you have some growth for CPU upgrades, but nothing that will astound you. Also, you lack the ability to significantly overclock. So, if you want a top-end rig that can seemlessly handle all the newest games, you would need to switch out your motherboard, CPU, and obtain a GPU. That's a lot of money.

Which games do you do want to play? I play bf4 on my a8 just fine, 2 of my friends spent alot of money recently going from fx4*** and haswell pentium to haswell i5s and are so far completely underwhelmed for the amount of money spent, we dont play any rts or skyrim though. If your board is a85 and has cooled vrms that chip should clock to 4.5ghz and buy a gpu or monitor which you'll actually see a difference in.

@Calculatron I'm willing to spend as much as I can for a great motherboard and I really want the i7 4770k or something similar since I've seen so many great reviews so about 600 aus for both

@con635 I wanna be able to play bf4 also .. Other games always come out and I really don't wanna be unable to play them ..my board is an amd a58 sorry about the mix up I got a Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X Overclocked 2GB .. My monitor is an Acer V193W Widescreen 19" VGA DVI LCD Monitor

Sorry for the late reply.. Different time zones I'm from Syd, Australia

Well in bf4 my cpu is maxed out, during action mostly 55+fps dips to mid 40s with lots happening but overall smooth, its fine for me but I suppose its subjective. Maybe in bf5 it wont fare so well.
Would you be overclocking the i7? If not you can get non 'k' model or xeon without igp, on pc part picker au theres nearly 100$ difference.
