I put everything together and in the process my I/0 cover broke. I discarded it and finished my build. Would that have anything to do with it not powering on? All I get is a short flash on my power led on the case and it wont flash again until I unplug the psu from the back and press power again. I didnt include parts or pics yet in hopes that that is a common issue. Thanks guys. P.s. my buddy who puts together pcs for a living claims it is a bad mobo but I dont believe him

No. You don't need an I/O cover so that should not affect the system from actually powering on. When it boils down to it, the I/O cover is merely for cosmetics. Try checking all of the connections and disconnecting anything that isn't needed to make the system boot up. Does the motherboard produce any beeps or does it had an LED indicator for error codes?

No beeps or anything. I tried just plugging in the essential power cables as well as the gfx card to no success. The only thing im questionable on is whether my power led power and reset buttons are proper
