How much difference does it make if I dual channel ram or not? I want 4 gigs of ram (but I want to be able to upgrade later), but don't necessarily want to give up a ram slot just for dual channel on a 2x2 gig sticks. If it is a huge difference in performance, then sure I will get the 2x2 gig sticks even if it means throwing one away when I want to upgrade, but if it isn't I want to buy a 4 gig stick and not waste money on not very much performance gain.

Dual channel memory might give 5% to 10% more speed but the real benefit is more bandwidth which reduces bottlenecks.

is it enough to the point where I should buy 2x2 gig sticks and use up an extra ram slot?

I would go on and get a decent 2x4GB kit. That's plenty for gaming and just about anything else except for video rendering and the like.

That way you're good and no need to add more RAM later on.

*sigh* I want to but I need to make some cuts on my build and its much difficult, for now I would be fine with 4 gig ram I think

you can just get 2x2GB of RAM then upgrade later. I personally game and work with only 4GB of RAM and I'm fine.
