Hi,

from what i've read the R9 280x needs minimun 30a on a 12v rail. well, i don't know much about PSUs ^^" my PSU got 2 rails with 25a each. so.. i wonder if my psu can handle it. i thought it would add up but im not sure about that anymore.

If the PSU has two or more +12 V rails, and it does not just add up the number, you need do the math like total wattage / voltage=Amp. For your PSU it will be 450W/12V=37.5A.

So it depends on how old the PSU is, do you OC the CPU to what frequency? But I guess the PSU can power the 280x, if you can't then either don't oc the cpu or underclock the GPU a little bit. If you still don't work out then I have to buy the new PSU.

Here is one review, they use the i7 k version and different brand 280x, but the power consumption will be similar in both system, their system draws less 400w total on load. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7400/the-radeon-r9-280x-review-feat-asus-xfx/20

From a review I've read it doesn't sound too good does the OCZ Fatal1ty... I wouldn't recommend it with your system.
The PSU is recommended for mid-range systems that don't "gobble" up too much energy, the 280x/FX-8350 isn't considered a mid-range system and it is definitely an energy "gobbler", when compared to a mid-range/intel system.

Personally, I'd recommend the XFX Pro series 550W. It's a much higher quality PSU that WILL run your system without a hiccup.

Review I read : http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/OCZ/FTY550W/11.html

i'm not planning to overclock anything in the near future. if i get you right ..as long as i don't add some more hard drives, PCI Cards, LED and stuff it should work very well? or ist it still a bit risky. i can live with it, if the PSU is the only one in trouble :)
