Hello!

My motherboard died last night so I've been looking for some update options, these are the ones that I liked:

1.- Asus Z97-A Motheboard + Intel i7 4770.
2.- Asus Maximus VII Ranger + Intel i5 4670k
3.- Asus Z97-A + Intel i5 4670k + Xonar DX

I use my pc mostly for gaming, I have a GTX 660 Ti wich I will upgrade next summer, so which option do you think will be better, I thought of the Devils Canyon CPU's but they will take longer to be on sale on my country, I would like to last me at least 3 o 4 years, what do you think?

My budget is between $500-$600 dlls, and I didn't choose MSI motherboards because of their supposed bad QC and because they are hard to get in Mexico.

Asus Z97-A + i7 4770 will be the best option for better overall performance. Though you can opt for H97 chipset motherboard( like Asus H97-Plus) with i7 4770 since you can't overclock i7-4770 and overclocking is the primary purpose of Z97/Z87 motherboard or alternatively i7-4770k + Z97-A motherboard makes more sense.

i5 4670k + Z97-A will be best for only a gaming rig.

Games are becoming to use more threads/cores so I would recommend i7 4770 + Z97-A/H97 if you want your system to be futureproof ( and I think overclocking is overrated as far gaming is concerned, one should invest on better GPU instead since it will provide with biggest performance boost unlike OC'ing)

Thanks for you answer, so do you think ROG Motherboards are not worth it, I myself don't see that much difference from the ROG Motherboards from what I get from the Z97-A, and like you said Im not thinking in overclocking, I thought of the i7 4770 in case games start to use hyperthreading more and more.

If you don't plan to break world records in overclocking then no need to go with VII ranger.

Z97-A is a great choice for overclocking either i5-4670k or i7-4770k without paying heavy premium.

Any game optimized to use 8 cores (few for now)will benefit from HT on i7. There are many titles optimized to use 4 cores which take advantage of HT on dual cores i.e. i3
