I agree with Josephh DeGarmo, that unless you are building a media processing rig that also happens to game or something then the i5 with a faster video card is probably a better choice for a gaming rig. Edit: Just noticed that it's a rig to do other things, so yeah, the i7 probably makes more sense for your usage.

Since you are using a Z87 board, you might want to look in to grabbing a 30-60GB SSD to use SRT which will make your machine nice and snappy loading your day to day programs and booting. It will make your machine feel nice anf fast by not having to wait around every time you want to load something.

My original advice was for the rig you had listed in your original post. If you are switching to something like the the one Joseph DeGarmo posted there is no need for a second SSD, the main one would already be for your OS and maybe a few games or apps that you want to be fast and anything else would go on the spinning disk.
