The button on the monitor turns blue (normal) and stays on but the screen goes black. the monitor does this on all other computers and other monitors work fine on all computers.

I don't really see a question here as you stated after the power surge your monitor stopped working correctly. Is your monitor under warranty?

Sounds like the monitor is fried.

Well it works for about 2 seconds is why I don't think it's totally fried. The mouse moves and the screen displays the proper page. No it's not under warranty.
If it were a fuse it wouldn't work at all I think and if a surge destroyed it it wouldn't work as well...?

What do you mean by it displays the proper page?

Like when I hook up another monitor to the computer and put a certain page on then switch to the "bad" monitor and turn it on that same page displays fine and the mouse works as well for about 2 seconds. Then bam, it goes black.

So you actually get the full display back lit and everything? The issue still is with the monitor, the power surge damaged something but what in particular I have no idea. You can either buy a new circuit board for the monitor, or buy a new monitor (which may be cheaper)

Yeah, I get full normal screen for just that few seconds. Very frustrating but you're right I was just hoping it was some warm up fuse or something. Thanks for the help. I'll take it apart just for fun before trashing it and see if anything looks "burned".
