How long will my PC run new games for?

My current PC specs are:
HIS HD 7970 IceQ X² GHz Edition 3072MB GDDR5
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz
Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI HERO Intel Z87 Mobo
8 gig Ram

I have been reading a lot about VRAM, and how much is likely to be needed to play games in the near future.

Will I be good for a while with my gfx card?

When i built my pc about a year and a half ago i was always worried that it will get outdated really soon. but it is still lasting and so will yours for a while. especially that your system has much better parts than mine has and i plan to use it for at least another 1-2 years without upgrading.
