Hey Guys,

My build:

i7 3770k (not overclocked)
ASROCK Extreme 6
8GB GSkill
Gigabyte 670GTX
NZXT Phantom 3 x 120-200mm intakes and 1 x 200mm exhaust
Corsair H100i with Corsair LINK 2

When I first had my H100i I run Prime95 and it kept my CPU below 65c which I was obviously happy with. Recently though I've been noticing my H100i's fans have been running at max speed even when idle.

My idle temps are: CPU @65c H100i @57c.

100% load using Prime95 temps: CPU @105c, H100i @70c.

When I run Prime95 my temp shoots to 105c within a couple of seconds instead of the usual gradual climb up a few degrees.

When opening applications and the CPU is required to do some processing the temps jump around 75-90c.

I've replaced the thermal paste and de-dusted today but no improvement at all.

I was first questioning if it was the H100i having an issue but from the eratic nature of the CPU temps I am now thinking my CPU is faulty.

I have warranty on all my components but due needing my computer for work and projects sending components off has to be a last resort.

Any idea on what I could check?

EDIT:

My airflow in my comp is fine: Harddrives all at 30c and GPU at 32c idle

Yeah. Disconnect the sata power cable and use it to power up an hard drive or something simular on another computer. If the hard drive is working then you know that the sata cable is working and the pump is getting power.
If you don't anything else to test with, reinstall the stock cooler and test it then. And of course if your fans are spinning properly then it's very likely that the pump has died.

The pump in my h80i recently died too. I'm probably never going to buy a corsair product again, except for their keysboards :p.

According to CorsairLINK2 my pump is running at between 2290-2310rpm, I can hear the typical noise coming from it, one pipe is very warm the other very cool but the LED is red not the blue I have configured it to glow and from a quick test my CPU temps are the same whether or not the fans are on. First a faulty headset and now this, starting to dislike Corsair.

Yeah, so it could be a missreading or the water is not getting through for some reason, either way at this rate you should just rma it.

>> Air Lock <<

Since you can hear the pump spinning it is unlikely that the pump is defective.

You likely have air in the pump.

Liquid cooling systems are shipped with air in the loop to allow for expansion of the liquid as it heats up. The air can become trapped in the pump creating an air lock which stops all flow in the loop.

To fix this...

First, ensure that the radiator is mounted above the pump and that it is oriented with it's outlet (cold hose) at the bottom (below the water level).

With the pump running, manipulate the case to place the pump as far below the radiator as possible. As you return the case to its normal position, ensure that any air trapped in the lines can rise into the radiator. Watch for curves in the hoses that could create a high spot to trap the air. You can often hear a change in the pump sound as the air is cleared. When you are finished you need to be confident that all the air in the system is in the radiator.

Load the system and check your temps...

Back to normal?
Play a FPS at Max OC to de-stress.

Still through the roof?
RMA your H100i.
