how to access programs in win 8

With the removal of the start menu you can no longer do this. Once an application is installed it will appear on your "Start" page. To access this select the Windows key or move your cursor to the bottom left corner of the screen and select the Winodws logo if your version of 8 has that. Once there you will see a few programs on the main page, if they are not listed you can hit the down area to the bottom left corner and it will display all programs. Another way to do this is by typing the program name in the start page. As you type it will narrow down the search results.

Hmm, I've tried all of those but cannot get the program file to show up, so I can start it. I used to be able to use the pop-up right click menu and get to my program starts. Now it's gone??? When I go into program files and try starting manually it just sits there confused. Trying to start microsoft tools without any luck!!! Yes, it does suck!!!

It sounds like you are having another issue than just being able to pull up a program. It sounds like when you actually try to pull up a program the computer locks up and freezes.
