i7 CPU Concerns and Water cooling

Hey guys, I just got teh i7 4770 for a good deal. I know there is the K version but i got the reg one for a good price. So i was planning on OC the k version but couldn't afford it. So can i still OC? I am aware the k means unlocked. And I do have an H80i cooler but i was wondering is it necissary to have a water cooler and im nto OC? I see that the water cooler without OC keeps good temps in my PC all around.

You will not be able to OC, most you can do is set it to allow it to run at the max turbo speed on all 4 cores.

The AIO water coolers don't really do anything a good air cooler can't do. Some of them will appear to outperform an air cooler but it's not the cooler that's responsible for the difference, it's the extreme rpm fans. Put the same fans on an air cooler and AIO and the air cooler will usually do equal better.

The 4770 is inexpensive because it has less value in the marketplace. You can overclock the non k processors by raising the BCLK but that overclocks everything noy just the CPU and ya usually can't get very far.

No, you cant overclock it but keep the liquid cooling going. It will be a nice cpu to get you through the leap in technology.
Check out Cannon Lake(14nm) cpu's. Set for 2016.
They use ddr4 and there will be new video card's that will most likely be dx12.

So yeah you can oc it but not really recommended.

That does not apply to haswell, they removed limited ocing. You can't oc 4 bins like on sb and ib. I'm pretty sure that asus turbo loophole doesn't work on non k either.

Wrong paragraph .... I was talking about just minor BCLK adjustments not straps ..... see Post 3 and paragraph 2 not 3 in the above link.... non K can't use straps.... but you can squeeze 3-4 Mhz on BCLK
