Hello, I was wondering if I upgraded my CPU from a dual to a quad core, would it increase my FPS and roughly by how much?
Motherboard: IPIBL-LB (Benicia)
CPU: E5400 dual core @ 2.7Ghz
Ram: 6gb
GPU: AMD R9 270
(The CPU upgrade would be an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz)
Also I play games like Arma and Dayz, ;barely pulling 15-20 FPS on Arma and 20ish on Dayz (mod) (really low population servers)and I believe my GPU meets the requirements, so I figure its my CPU.

Solution
your cpu is restraining your gpu from running as it should. tipical case of bottlenecking! if you upgrade to the quad core try finding one with higher speed cause overclocking with such G33 mobo may not be possible. you can check though if bios allows any cpu voltage tweak. even with such quad core you will need to o/c it in order for R9 270 to perform a lot better http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/259899-29-core-overclocking-guide (you will a good psu and sufficient cooling to achieve that)

Thanks for the reply im just having a hard time trying to find a compatible processor with my motherboard due to the 775 socket, but thanks for the information and I will look for a cpu with a higher speed

you are welcome and good luck!
