So to explain my situation:

I have a TP-Link wireless adapter TL-WN721N which I noticed kept disconnecting with a red X on my wireless icon. It happens randomly and requires me to replug it to connect to the internet. I googled it and saw that some people had the same issue as me. I've already uninstalled-reinstalled several times to no avail.

I've used my headset on the same port and never ever had any random disconnections over hours of gameplay but my adapter randomly disconnects and can only be fixed by replug.

So I suppose it made sense that it was a faulty adapter and I bought a new one off ebay with the brand "signalking". And the issue STILL persists...

The conclusion I arrived at is that maybe I need to update my USB dirvers? 3 USB ports as shown here but apparently there are no USB2.0 drivers available for me to begin with when I checked:

Do you guys think it's the adapter, driver, both, or any other issues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No I don't think I have the latest BIOS, I haven't flashed the BIOS ever since I bought it cuz it has been working fine, except for the USB port it seems as you can see in the picture.

However I did recently reinstall Windows and updated whatever drivers I found on the ASUS site for my mobo:

As you can see under USB section, there are only USB3.0 drivers, not any USB2.0.
I also have the lastest drivers for my adapter.

Been a while since I've been busy and forgot to post an update.

Basically updated the chipset driver and the issue still persists...totally confused since the USB driver itself can't be broken since I can use it for my headset for example but when it comes to wireless cards, it randomly DCs..

EDIT.
I'm an idiot.
I just realized that my chipset driver .zip file that I downloaded only attempted to download the GPU drivers for an ATI card using CCC...(while I have NVIDIA card in the first place).

Ok so I see a chipset installer and when I try to launch the installer, it gives error:
"This installation package could not be opened. Contact that application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package"

I downloaded it properly - select win7 64bit for chipset.

So i downloaded that one.

I ran the installer and it opened CCC, it showed briefly something regarding USB download -- the install finished and I rebooted but nothing.
The error is still there in my device manager regarding USB Controller and when I navigated to C://programfiles/ATI Technologies where it was apparently installing all the files...there was nothing there either.

EDIT.
This is all that was downloaded from running the executable...

I've tried doing auto update for the USB controller but it doesn't work.
