EVGA GTX 780 or XFX Radeon R9 290

Solution
I agree with nikoli, the EVGA GTX 780 SC w/ ACX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CUIVSNS is a better option over the XFX R9 290. XFX is a sub-par GPU manufacturer and I've had nothing but RMA problems with XFX cards.

EVGA has the best support and warranty in the market and also very reliable graphics cards. If you want something cheaper then go with a Sapphire R9 290. Any Sapphire model is a great option.
for what reason and what price? the xfx is probably at least $100 cheaper than the evga. but i personally wouldn't buy a graphics card that isn't from evga, sapphire, msi, gigabyte or asus. i would pick the evga 780. but a little more info is always nice.

you should know that the sapphire tri-x 290 is an excellent card and out of the box is slightly faster, although barely noticeable, than most regular 780 models like the evga acx 780. you should not overlook it. but all things considered, the 780 will overclock farther because the gk110 in the nvidia card runs cooler than the hawaii chip in the amd option. sapphire is a very reliable company with very good support and warranty. if you wont be overclocking the r9-290 is a better option, if you will be overclocking, the 780 is probably the safer bet.

im not sure what model you are looking at for the evga card, but the superclocked acx cooler version is evga's best air cooled bang for buck in their model list.

XFX has a life time warranty on there cards. Anyone that says they aren't good is kidding themselves, the only bad thing that could be said about XFX is there coolers ran a few degrees hotter than the others. There cards are going to save you money and deliver in $ to performance. I've had XFX cards in the past and they run perfectly fine, and did I mention they have a LIFE TIME warranty (I know I already mentioned it). Even if bought from a previous owner, it still applies. See video for how it compares to the TRI-X cooler.
