I have 16 GB of DDR3 Ram in my laptop, a new 1 TB Samsung Evo SSD with a 3rd Gen i7 processor running windows 8.1.

I really have 2 questions here..

First, should i worry about turning on over-provisioning to my new SSD because the magician software tells me it can not be turned on due to the drive not in NTFS format, but it is in that format, it even says so in the magician software. So I am a little confused about that.

Second, I am wondering if RAPID mode is beneficial to have on if I am a moderate to heavy gamer?

Thanks,
Spence

Don't worry about over-provisioning the drive, just don't get it more than 90% full or there about...not sure of the best number. I have 2 evos with rapid mode on. It seems to work however I have not benched it, getting too old for all that stuff now.

Rapid Mode is very impressive, as are the benchmarks with it enabled. So yes, by all means, definitely turn on Rapid Mode!

Additionally, if you haven't already done so, with 12Gb of memory or larger you can set the Page File size to zero, which will reduce read / write activity on your SSD, and will also serve to increase performance a little further.

Reedo_43, Thanks for tip about not filling it up! That actually was one of the biggest reasons why i bought the 1 TB so that I would almost never be able to fill it up. I keep most of my large video/media files on my NAS drive so that shouldn't be an issue. :)
