I actually have and use this mnitor, I've even got the nVidia 3D Vision 2 kit and play games in 3D. Even without 3D this is an amazing performance monitor.

For design and editing you want the ASUS PA248Q http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008DWH00K. It's an excellent IPS panel monitor with very accurate color reproduction which you will want for editing.

Both of these are the best monitors in your price range for each of the specific tasks you want to perform.

What qualities are you looking for? Example: fast refresh, fast response, higher then 1080P. For your budget you are limited to one or two of the above qualities per monitor. Also what screen size?
