Hi guys, I was thinking on picking up this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130771
I've been working on a build for 3 months and the quality of my Asus board is the reason I've never received a POST. I have had a professional look at it and the mobo is most likely the issue.

My main question: is msi a good brand? I'm concerned with the quality of the board- just need something very reliable. Also, this may sound funny, but can I get that board in blue somewhere? Or is there a board equivalent to it in blue?

I really appreciate the help- thanks!

Ok- what are some good gigabyte boards for around $150? I'm googling some now. And this may sound silly, but what does QC stand for?

I've been using a MSI Z77A GD55 for about 2 years now and it's great. I run my delidded 3770k at 4.8GHz. The board is super OC friendly, there is a manual OC genie mode that only shows you the basics for overclocking such as base clock, voltage, memory, and multiplier. However, you can disable OC genie and go full manual mode as well with all the really advanced options. I love the board, everything stays nice and cool and great performance and looks overall. My friend is using the MSI Z87A GD65 with a 4670k and his opinion is just like mine, he loves it. He pushed his CPU all the way to 4.7GHz 24/7 which is very impressive for a non-delidded Haswell CPU, but he obviously got lucky with the CPU lottery, but the motherboard's performance is able to keep up with the CPUs potential. Also, I find that their customer support is AWESOME. They are a bit slow, however they are very relaxed and are willing to work around the "rules" to help you out. I had to RMA my GTX 680 Lightning and I removed the Serial Number sticker and lost it... I voided my warranty immediately. However, there was another barcode on the GPU to confirm that I in fact owned it and the guy said it's okay and he'll replace it for me. I'm shipping it out to them tomorrow! :D Very helpful support and just saved my ass 450$ (GTX 680 Lightning was hella expensive back then). Gonna try selling my replacement for 250-300 after I flash the unlocked BIOS and pick up a R9 290 Vapor-X, 2GB V-RAM just isn't cutting it anymore. Sorry, I'm rambling

Yes, MSi in my opinion is a great brand.

I'm skeptical that accurate data is available about how many support requests MSI gets on their motherboards. Doesn't seem like the sort of thing any company would ever willingly disclose. I'd be interested to see sources.

I'd personally lean toward Asus or ASRock, but I don't think there's much reason to think poorly of MSI. I love the look of their motherboards, but features, value, and performance are much better metrics to go by and MSI just never seems to put out products that really stand out.

don't know last 3 asus boards were not all that great for me but if you like tinkering and trouble shooting then I guess there all right.. lots of hype .. all were replaced with gigabytes and asrock reused the parts off the asus on the the replacement boards and fired right up and stable the first boot still running today..[sabertooths all 3 bought at least a month apart on separate accounts with different parts for 3 builds ]
