Can I add a Nvidia GC to an AMD APU?

Hey everyone,

This is my first time posting on here, so bear with me.

I currently have an AMD A8-3850 APU installed in my desktop. However, due to lagging in games (my main use), I am curious in saving for a new graphics card. (Personally, I was to naive to realize that I should have gone the Intel route, but that's a different story.)

My main question is, will a Nvidia card work in conjunction with the APU in any way? Would there be any issues in getting it up and running?

At this point, I am between the GTX 750 Ti and 650 Ti Boost cards, if that helps at all.

Thanks!

If you mean Dual Graphics, where the apus igpu and the NVidia gpu share the same workload then nope. That is only supported on only select amd radeon cards. Plus, it's not great at all.

Get the GTX 750 ti, it is twice more power efficient, and it is better than the older 650 ti boost.

Nvidia discrete card will work fine with that system using only the card.

You can use either Nvidia or AMD Graphics card with APU

Thanks for all the responses! Just to get it straight, If I went in and clean cut left the APU in and just added the Nvidia into a Graphics slot, it would work? (Obviously, config would be in order but don't consider that as a part of it "working". I just want to see that in SOME way, shape, or form, I can get it to work.)

Thanks!

Yes it will work but you can't do an AMD APU/discrete video card crossfire. Once you install a discrete video card it will disable the integrated graphics just like on an Intel CPU.

You can either use one or the other
