I'm looking for a replacement hard drive and have come across many pipeline drives which when I search about don't answer this question specifically.

Are they suitable for use as pc system primary hard drive? what's the difference?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
they are meant to be used in DVRs and surveillance systems.

they most likely have a special firmware like the WD Purple drives.

stick with a regular drive like the WD Blue or Black or the 7200rpm Seagate drives
