Maximus VI Formula or Maximus VI Extreme or another motherboard?

Hi everyone, I am building a gaming/overclocking pc and I have decided that I will use the new i7 4790k so I'm wondering if I should get either of these old boards with z87 or go with a newer board that has z97 and if so which board should I go for?

I'm using Formula VI and man I love it. Excellent performance. No complaints and so many features with it. It is really worth it if you can afford it.

Asus has released BIOS update (beta) 1504 addressing the compatibility of Z87 with devil canyon.

This is from their site for my mobo:

MAXIMUS VI FORMULA BIOS 1504
Enhance compatibility for new Anniversary Edition and Devil's Canyon CPU.
Note: Must apply the attached BIOS updater tool first before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors.

If you are looking for Formula then I've got news for you. Formula VII has been released by Asus. Wait till it hits retail market.

Also Hero VII is yet another great choice. It has a very good Overclockign support which you won't regret...

I looked up on the internet and I just found out that Asus ROG Maximus VII Formula is coming out in July, I guess I'll wait until then to buy my mobo. Thanks guys
