A 550W psu is OK, as long as its a good one - per http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-su...

The 290 will work fine with the 3770k

newegg says 750w

i assume testing is done at 100 percent load on cpu and gpu though. would it not be best to get a 750w for a overclock?

I got another one for the 290 - 600W

But 550 or 600 for the 280x - I suppose its older - a 7970.
