Hi I am currently looking to upgrade my system for gaming. My current setup is below.
Core i7 2600k@ 4.8
Asus maximus rampage iv extreme-z
8gb G skill ripjaws x @2133
2 X gigabyte radeon hd 6970 in cf
Corsair ax1200w psu
CM HAF X tower

This setup works fine at 1080p but I have ordered a new monitor at 2560 x 1440 and don't believe I will be able to get stable 60 fps with this.

I am torn as to weather I should get two more 6970s off eBay, get a 6990 off eBay or sell both my cards and go a completely different route.
Both will cost around £200 total and selling my cards would give me a budget of only 400.
What do you guys think?

Chris.

2 6970s will give you a great performance at 2560x1440.Yes it may not be 60FPS steady with all games but still. I say try the games you play, then decided whether to upgrade or not.

don't go quad fire, sell your 6970's. I would try to save up for 2 R9 290's and put them in crossfire (no crossfire bridge needed), that is over budget but defiantly worth it, as quadfire scaling is defiantly not worth it.

That said dual 6970's should do fine at 1440p in the first place, if not, then upgrade.

My new monitor is here and both 290s ordered. Now a new question, what game(s) would you say has the best graphics to show these new toys off? After all what good are these things if you can't brag ;)
