I know that many people have issues with this pesky thing and I have encountered one as well.

It happens when I try to run a game.(application/system software run fine...seemingly.)

When I run the .exe file it pops up on processes with at most, 02 of CPU usage for literally 2 seconds and then it goes to 00.

Then the rundll32.exe pops up and continuously runs on an average 44 CPU usage!!
After ten minutes all of these stay the same and the game never actually runs... :(

Is it the rundll32 virus?
Anyone have any ideas?

Dell Vostro 200 Slim (unmodded)
OS: Windows 7

Cheers in advance!

rundll32.exe is a Windows executable, running dlls that are part of your application.
If you are having problems, you need to indentify the dll being run.

It just comes up as rundll32.exe! There is only one and that is the name that comes with it! It says it is located in the system32 area, so I'm assuming that it is the real rundll32?!!?!? Very baffled!

when you open task manager, click the processes tab. click the view menu and click choose columns. make sure that
"image path name" and "command line" are checked. command line will usually tell you which dll is running and give
you some insight as to what process called it. in the case of games, it is usually gameux.dll. this dll is an update for
game info that will run even if all game explorer options are set to manual. if you are not connected to the web, the
dll will hang and it may not let you start your game(sometimes will if you click the game a 2nd time.

sometimes changing the name of the game exe will bypass game explorer, but the only way that I know for certain
to defeat game explorer when you are offline is to edit your registry(5 min) and give gameux.dll a dummy target
for updates.

create a dummy folder on your c: drive
open regedit
hit ctrl + f to open search, and type in servicelocation (all one word)
repeat until you see a key called games in the right hand pane.
rename this key if you want to keep it, and create new string value called "Games".
the data for this key should be the path to your dummy folder.
close regedit and restart. now you should be able to start any game on or off line.
