Most likely, either the drive is shot, the enclosure is shot, or the power supply (is there one?) is shot.

Are you familiar enough with the hardware to remove the drive from the enclosure and attach it directly to a PC's motherboard without trouble? That's often a good test. Before trying that, tell us what it shows as in Device Manager and Disk Manager when it's attached to a computer.

Thanks for your help. I am not familiar enough to remove the hard drive from the enclosure unfortunately. I am thinking along the lines that perhaps the power source might have a problem or the Ethernet cable. When looking at the home drive dock, the lights on the front of the dock do not illuminate at all, but the light at the rear of the dock does once turned on. So the system must be getting power. I can hear the drive working once the power is switched on, its just not communicating with any of the known computers, I have tried to connect device manager through a cable but it wont work. I am going to try a new Ethernet cable or a data cable after that I may have to try a new dock.

I use this drive through a wireless router connection.
