That socket is long gone. You probably won't be able to find a CPU for it unless it's second-hand. And no processor that you put in that socket will come close to the i7 - it wouldn't even come close to an i5 of the last 3 generations.

Just look into buying a cheap LGA 1150 motherboard. Get an Asus H87 with the unlocked BIOS for ~$50 . If you're worried about replacing the motherboard, don't be. There are tons of tutorials that show you the step-by-step procedures on how to install a motherboard.

Does the H87 have an unlocked BIOS version or is it modified by third parties?

I found this mobo which claims to enable overclocking: 85-G41 PC MATE. Will it be compatible with the FCLGA1150 socket?

EDIT: It only allows to overclock RAM :p
