I'm still pretty new with pc gaming and was just curious how to monitor my CPU, GPU heat..and at what temperature I should try and stay under. Right now i'm using Pulseway on windows 8, but I cant find where it tells me my GPU heat. This is my rig in case you need to know.

CPU - Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5 GHz
Motherboard - ASUS Z87 Sabertooth
CPU Fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Video Card - EVGA GTX 780 Ti Classified
RAM - Kingston HyperX Blu 16GB
SSD - Crucial M500 240GB
HDD - Western Digital Blue 1TB
Case - CM Storm Stryker – Full Tower
Power Supply - Seasonic M12II-850
Optical Drive - blu-ray

(Also i'm running at 1440 resolution)

Also is there additional things you can buy to keep the heat down? It's not that my pc is running too hot, I had an issue a long time ago where I basically destroyed my laptop due to extreme heat and I'm just being extra cautious. Thanks for any help regarding PC temps. I'm still new with pc gaming and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

ASUS GPU tweak or MSI afterburner should both have settings to change the GPU and monitor the temps/ fan speeds. HWmonitor is also a free program that can monitor the voltages and temps of all the components (or many) including CPU, CPU socket, HDD's, and GPUs.

My personal favorite in terms of comprehensive monitoring, ease of use, and general accuracy is HWMonitor.

CPU: You'd want to watch for temperatures getting much past 70C for everyday use. 80s are acceptable for stress-testing and even encoding/content creation at times (while OCed). However, don't push it past that very often. I personally like to keep my "everyday temperature" at 60-65C.

Motherboard: Shouldn't have to worry about these temps much. Unless you're overclocking absolutely every part of your system. (More than just GPU/CPU)

RAM: Same as above.

GPU: You're going to want to rethink your cooling solution if your GPU temp reaches/exceeds 95C often.

For monitoring your cpu temps, speeds, voltages, etc, get the AI Suite program from ASUS. For all the GPU monitoring info you could ever want, get MSI's Afterburner program. Both programs monitor in real time and constantly run with next to nothing system resource usage. I use both of those and love them. Both of those programs also contain easy to use fan controllers as well. You can control the cpu fan and all of the fans hooked up to the motherboard with AI Suite and you can control the GPU fan with Afterburner.

I used to use HW monitor alot and still do for thing like HDD temps, etc. But after comparing the AI Suite and Afterburner readings to HW Monitor, they always read the same. So the accuracy of those programs are dead on.

As for what you can do to keep your system nice and cool...What case and fans do you currently have?
In my opinion, you should have at the very least 2 120mm fans for intake and 2 120mm fans for exhaust. You should also have 2 fans on that 212 EVO for a push-pull setup.
