Is this a good setup, and is the mobo overboard or worth it?

gtx 760 is a good investment and the cpu choice depend on what you going to do
for a cheap video editing the amd fx cpu are the best
for a gaming rig the intel i5 are a lot better with the best choice of mobo go with it

but....if you have already the fx 8320 is still good for gaming , the problem is you are limited in choice of a good mobo and futur proof ( depend which new cpu ; amd going to release in the futur?? i still waiting...)
the gigabyte 990 fxa ud3 is suppose to be a very good board , unfortunatly you had a doa one ...this can happen sometimes in each mobo brands ... i can tell you the asus MA97 r2.0 is a real good board...the best i had for an fx cpu

Buying a whole new system :] first build on my own. I definitely won't be mixing Intel with AMD. I apologize for the broken link, just delete the M at the beginning as I'm on a mobile device.

The AMD CPU and Mobo is obviously cheaper compared to the i5 and in terms of gaming with a 760 will bare little difference to the i5, however if you choose to go with 1150 socket intel you've got a longterm system which a few years down the line you can most likely upgrade easier.

If you video edit both are good but again in the long term intel will work out better especially with AMD focusing on APU range really if price isn't a barrier go for i5 if it is go for AMD Fx series.
