i read bout the monitor overclocking in a forum. is it only involve refresh rate and just simply change it using it a software?

im using a dell s2340l. can i overclock it to 75hz? does it have the side effect(long term and short term)?

im using;
-fx6300
-sapphire r9 270 dual-x
-8gb ram

*yes. cheap spec*

can my pc spec strong enough to support 75hz with 1080p res (vsync in-game setting on, ultra and high and medium)?

any response would be grateful! thanks for being a concerned fellas!

Overclocking your monitor as far as I know has many risks and is seriously not recommended. I haven't seen many people do it so I wouldn't recommend doing it myself, and when it comes down to it won't really improve game play that much going from 60Hz to 75Hz. But to answer your question yes it should be able to run at medium in most games and 75Hz in theory

what is the most obvious side effect? is it longterm or shortterm?

Permanent damage so long term, why do you even expect to get from oc your monitor?

because im quite sensitive bout the smoothness of the gameplay. i also heard bout the frame rate cant go higher than the refresh rate of the monitor. so 120 fps is a waste on 60hz monitor. is that right?

thats why im trying to push the monitor a bit so i can get a smoother frame rate even just a bit, assuming my spec is powerful enough to support it. i also dont mind playing it on 900p res with high setting.

I don't have the best background knowledge on monitors, but the way I see it that 60hz is good because for example if you push out 120 fps and your monitor only picks up 60 that means you have 2x the less chance of a bad frame. It could be the opposite and I could be entirely wrong but correct it I'm wrong
