i found a deal in a local shop whos selling sata 2 60gbs for 15 bucks which is amazing as i need a new hard drive for my toshiba satelite c850-1gl, my friend was also wonderign with it work with his asus maximus hero motherboard with sata 3 cable that came with the mobo?

60 gbs isn't a lot for an upgrade and I'm not really sure what you're asking. Are you asking if you can hook up a notebook hdd to a pc or will it be compatible using a sata 3 cable. But I'll try to answer all I can. For future reference please be more specific or word the question better.
-Yes sata III is backwards compatible to work with 2
-Yes notebook hdd's work as long as you can provide power and a data cable in a regular pc

my other hdd in my laptop broke so i was wondering is it compatible with this ssd instead of the old hdd i know i have to get windows 8 recovery disk ect.

the other question is can i use this with an asus maximus vi hero motherboard with sata 3 cables on a pc?
