Got a weird issue with a network printer a few hundred miles away in a satellite office. I can't find anything out there on it.

The printer is an HP LaserJet P2035n running off of Windows Server 2012. The client computers I've tested on it have been Windows 8.1 Ent, Windows 7 Pro, Windows 7 ent.

When we send small print jobs (Under 64kb) to the printer it works fine. When a print job gets sent that is larger than 64 kb it will load 64 KB / 187 KB (or however large the file is) and then stop and produce the error code "Out of Paper" locally - this is what the print server tells me under queue status as well. When I web into the printer though the status just shows "Offline". Turning it off and on again let us resume printing small jobs, test pages, simple documents (nothing over 64 kb). But as soon as ANYONE sends a job that is over 64 KB the printer quits again with the same codes.

The HP 2035n is the worst printer known to mind kind. I started working at a company that had this printer installed throughout the company. A year later we were using another model printer. The biggest issue we had with these printers were the drivers. We would have similar issues like yours and realized that the universal print drivers had to be installed rather than the drivers that Windows update tries to install. I would recommend trying the HP Universal Print drivers. The normal drivers would not work over a RDP connection as well causing us even more issues since we used RDS.

The universal print driver let it load more than 54kb (537 kb this time) but still errored out. Didn't say Out of paper this time - just "Error".

How is the printer connected to the computers? Is is connected locally or over the network?

Have you tried another printer?

The printer is connected through Ethernet to the corporate network and is installed on a corporate print server. Each client finds the printer they want to install through the printer directory service - the driver is served from the print server.

I have removed the printer from the print server and re-added with different driver sets, as well as simple changing the served driver. It doesn't work with any driver.

It sounds like it could be related to the printer RAM. I would try a test and see if using another printer locally at your workstation has the same results.

When you print larger jobs.. I am trying to remember what issues we had with these things, we had a ton, is it multiple pages?
