How to remove BItfenix Prodigy M ODD Cover?

I'm nearly positive you have to break it off since there seems to be two spots for screws to hold it on after you break it (the spot where I believe it snaps off are the very thin metal point beneath the screw holes), I've just never had a case that required that before so I want to make sure that's correct before I do it.

Here's a picture to more clearly show what I mean (I'm asking about the actually metal blank cover, not the mesh one that sits onto of this):
