I had a Sony Viao desk top. the hard drive was taken out of it as the machine no longer worked.

I have now bought a LENOVA C560 and Winstars Communicator SATA HDD USB 3.0 Dock so that I could read my old hard drive and get my data off. Documents, photo's Music etc.
When I looked at the properties of the hard drive it states that out of 454GB , used space is 158GB
and free space is 296GB.

I cannot find photo's , music etc. I have toted up all the folders, I can see, and the total is 25.5 GB

HELP

Did the dock come with a driver disc? Are there drivers on Winstars' website?

The pics would most likely be in your old users folders.
You may need to enable viewing of hidden and system files as well as take ownership of the folders.

XP: x:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\ (replace x with the letter assigned to the external)
also check x:\Documents and Settings\All Users\

Vista, 7, 8 : Your users folder is located in x:\users\username
Also check x:\users\public

Take ownership: I use this nifty utility
