I got some new Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 drives from a friend but when i used them in my server computer, they were not showing up in windows explorer. I took them out and plugged them into a different computer and tried to use them. They worked and I reformatted them to NTFS and the other to FAT32, but when I put them back in the server computer, they were still not showing up.

Later, I downloaded EaseUS and took a look at the drives. Both of the drives were showing up a "Write Protected" and I couldn't reformat them or do anything. I do have windows server 2012 on my server computer and windows 7 home premium on the computer that both of the hard drives worked, but I don't think that is is a hardware problem, but more of a software problem.

Hard Drive Information:
Product Name: ATA ST3250410AS
Total Size: 232.89 GB
MBR Signature: 732849C6
Partition Type: FAT32
Serial Number: C36B70C3

Do they show up in the disk management console? Most likely it is just because they are disabled in the disk management, all you need to do is right click and "enable" it

Were they in a RAID? Sometimes you have to go into the Raid BIOS and clear the RAID data out
