Hi. I am thinking of buying HP ENVY 700 Desktop PC - AMD Elite A10, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD. Here is the thing. I have never used an amd cpu.. The several desktops that I have had have intel installed in them. I am hearing that the processor overheats. Is that true? I am not a gamer, but I do like to record tv shows. Will the amd processor burn out the system. I would hate to spend a lot of money and get burned in the process. Any suggestions will be helpful. deanie

I recently bought an HP ENVY with the AMD A10 APU, 6GB RAM and 750GB HDD. I'd originally intended to go with the i5 version of the HP ENVY, but alas they were out of stock.

While I've noticed quite a bit of heat blowing out the side and increased fan RPM while streaming fullscreen video, I've yet to have an overheating problem.
If you have issues, you have a manufacturer's warranty at the very least, on top of whatever warranty/guarantee you get from the place of purchase.

The AMD processor will be fine. If HP designed their computers to overheat that is an issue with HP and not AMD. For everyday use and video playback it will be more than enough.

Slower core performance than Intel (not noticeable unless you are a computer guru)
Much faster graphics performance than Intel (depending on what you are moving up from)
