I'll be paying $25.00 via PayPal sent as a gift for someone who can successfully help me resolve my issue.

I have a MSI Z87-G43 MOBO and the bios version that came with it was 1.2. I had installed applications from the disc that had come with the mobo and one was named "Live Update 6" and it had updated my bios. Ever since I'd updated my bios from 1.2 to 1.8 I'm unable to have a steady 4.9 GHz overclock and my computer in general, the performance has gone to poop. I've tried removing batter to reset CMOS, I've tried the JBAT1 method and it only resets Windows 7. How can I reset my Z87-G43 to factory defaults?

Can you go into BIOS? if not, can you procure the latest version of BIOS that MSI has? I am currently on their site looking.

[strike]OK, the fix for this is to re-flash your BIOS. I am looking for the MSI version as mobo manufacturers have different instructions for each mobo. Will post in a few minutes.[/strike]

That page has the BIOS versions. Download the latest one. I am posting instructions. This will only affect the mobo so no data will be lost.

I have tried downloading an older version from MSI website and I get an error when I'm trying to install it. The error more less states "This installation is not compatible with your operation system, please check if you have Windows x64 64 32 bit Windows x86 64 bit" or something along those lines. I have Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition.

Understand you have to load up the BIOS on a USB and flash it when booting up. I am posting the instructions here.
Also, do you have the gaming or the non gaming version of this motherboard?

Here, use the first set of instructions, NOT THE MFLASH.

So you were at 4.9 prior to the BIOS update? The BIOS update itself will have wiped all your prior OC settings, so need to redo all of it, setting up the DRAM, check drives and video are set correctly then go through with all the voltages and everything else, what are you other components

I only adjusted the CPU Ratio to 49 and left voltages on auto. I disabled EIST/Into Turbo Boost/Hyperthreading. I play a certain game where overclocking makes an intense difference, not FPS wise but performance wise and it's unreal how much it makes a difference and now when I overclock to 4.9 GHz (I even played at 5 GHz for an hour and half) and it was awful. I felt no performance boost at all.

Ah ok then

As for the update, A re-flash means wiping the entire BIOS and putting a new copy. That is not possible when the system is up and running.

Update: I tried installing via MFLASH and nothing happened, the BIOS was not installed although nothing went wrong. I'm trying to boot from my USB with version 1.2 and it is not working. My computer will boot, black screen after BIOS and then restart because it's unable to boot and use the files. I've exacted the BIOS files into the USB as directed, there's nothing else on it.

After this, there is only one conclusion to make.

Your motherboard has died. Time to get a new one. Sorry we could not help you fix your problem, and only added one more to your list.
