Hi all

I started out today thinking that this would be a pretty simple job, but hours and hours later it turns out I was wrong - and now I've come to the point where I need to actually ask specifically rather than trawl forums for answers.

Essentially the title says it all - I wanted to add a new SSD to an existing XPS 8300 which has two 1TB drives in a RAID0 array, however the key point is that I wanted to use the SSD to boot and to just keep the 2TB array as storage (without having to format it).

After a lot of switching between drives, windows 8 usb hijinks and messing with bios (including a CMOS reset) - I've come to this point: All three drives are connected and detected. The two original drives are still in their RAID array and working fine, and the SSD has a clean copy of Windows 8 installed on it. I can boot to the RAID array and see the SSD as an extra drive, or I can unplug the RAIDs and boot to the SSD - but for some reason when both are plugged in I can't boot to the SSD and see the RAIDs as the extra drive. I keep getting kicked out into the blue screen and Windows can't diagnose the problem....

I was wondering if anybody might be able to give me any pointers as to where I'm going wrong. The alternative would be to just delete the RAID config and have them as two drives in the SSD's OS, but I'm not so keen to just format those two drives if I can help it.... I feel like I'm quite close and restoring all that data is going to be a major hassle....

Thanks in advance!
