I am currently looking into ways to cool down the temperature of my computer(GPU mainly.) i have an Asus G10ac and am wondering if replacing the stock rear fan for a better one would possibly help me with lowering temperatures.

If the answer is yes, which rear case fan is recommended?

Solution
Wait. Measure the fan and make sure that it isn't already a 120 mm fan otherwise it would be a waste of money. It might be 120 mm fan in a fan designed for 120 mm or 140 mm fans.

I don't have any personal experience with $20 120 mm fans. You would have to ask other people on suggestions for expensive fans. I have only had personal experience with cheap fans:

4 pack of Cooler Master Sleeve Bearing 120mm Silent Fan for $8 after $5 rebate: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103052

4 pack of Cougar Turbine CFT12SB4 120mm Case Fan $30: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835553009 (since they were included with my Cougar Solutions Black Steel case...

No idea what size it currently is, any way to figure this out if I've never messed with fans before? It seems like a small thin fan to me but I've never messed with them before like I said.

Would a 120 be my best solution regardless? I am not sure if bigger is better for this sort of thing.

Thanks for the help!

Links above are to the front bottom(empty) and rear fans on my PC. Since it seems I don't even have a front fan, should I just add in a front fan and replace the rear fan for a better one?

I was mistaken. That is a 80 mm. Getting a 120 mm fan for the back exhaust will cool everything better and it will be more quiet.

I am not sure if you can even install a fan in the front depending on available motherboard connections even though there is a cutout but I am not sure how well the air will flow.

I have the Cooler Master Sleeve Bearing 120mm Silent Fan ( www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103052) and they seem solid for the price but I have not installed then since I can't install them or plug them in since I don't have the proper motherboard 3 pin fan connections but they are only for mounting vertically ex. | |-> or <-| |

I don't have any personal experience with $20 120 mm fans except for the Cougar Turbine CFT12SB4 120mm Case Fan ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835553009 ) since they came with the cougar solutions black steel case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811553003) but I am not someone who pays more than $2.50 per fan.

So a 120mm would be the best option for the rear. Are they all the same? If so, which would you recommend?

As far as the front fan, It definitely appears like that is the slot for one doesn't it? What would be the issue with me installing one there and if I can, ^^ same questions as to the rear fan selection.

I'd prefer to order from newegg since I do most of my pc part shopping from them but I have no real price limit. I am expecting that the fans should run at most 30-50USD each?

I will make sure to actually measure before buying any new ones. When measuring do I just measure the size of one side? Not sure how exactly that 120mm is calculated. If I DO end up getting a front fan, how could I figure out how big it needs to be, all I see are the 4 holes for screws.

In regards to the front fan, any idea if I can toss one on in that empty space? I see the 4 screw holes in the case already just seems like Asus didn't decide to put one in there.

Just put a ruler on it. A 120mm fan will usually measure 120mm end to end.

Mounting holes are typically as follows:
32mm between screw holes 40mm fan size
40mm between screw holes 50mm fan size
50mm between screw holes 60mm fan size
60mm between screw holes 70mm fan size
72mm between screw holes 80mm fan size
83mm between screw holes 92mm fan size
105mm between screw holes 120mm fan size
125mm between screw holes 120mm fan size

inches x 25.4 = mm

There are also 140mm fan designed to mount on 120mm mounting holes.

Sorry for the late response and thanks for the answer.

It turns out that the rear fan is already a 140mm one so I don't know what else I could really do to make my case cooler overall.

I still haven't really heard if I should try to mount a fan in the open front bottom of my case since the manufacturer decided to not put one there. Any opinions on this? Not sure if it or if I should just keep the 1 rear fan

I am getting one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709023

Check to see if there is another 3 pin fan connection on the motherboard and check to see you can remove your front panel since if you can't remove your front panel then installation will be rough.

The only reason why I am recommending that fan is that it says that it comes with a 400mm Extension Cable or 15.748 inch Extension Cable so that if you have an extra 3 pin fan connection then it will be a simple installation and there will be no need to buy additional things if the descriptions are correct.
