Hello. Recently I've had a lot of issues with my RAM and have looked through multiple forum threads which all point to the fact that I just need to replace my RAM (which was cheap RAM anyways). This being said the motherboard I currently have uses DDR2 RAM and it would cost so much to the point where I figure I may as well buy a new motherboard and get 8 gigs of DDR3 ram. Anyone know of a relatively cheap motherboard that can support my CPU (AMD athlon 64 x2 5200+) and DDR3 ram yet still has some room for improvement? Also I don't know if this is a big deal or not but I believe I have a 400 watt power source. I would appreciate help greatly.

Unfortunately, the memory controller resides on the CPU itself. It only allows DDR2 memory to be used.

There may not be anything wrong with your RAM. Have you tested it with Memtest?
If not, download the memtest .ISO file and use it to make a memtest boot disk. With a single stick of RAM ONLY in the first memory slot, let the pgm run for at least one full pass. Overnight would be better if the issue is heat related. If evn a single error shows up, that stick is defective. If no errors appear, your memory is almost certainly OK.
