Hello. Was looking to see if I could make a new build and this was what I came up with: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/pizzahead911/saved/LrdxFT . Anyone see any problems with this or ways I could make it cheaper or better. I'm really looking to save as much money as I can and I was wondering if the CPU fan was necessary or not.

The power supply is junk. The stock fan is pretty bad so I'd go with spending the $25 for the Cooler Master.

if you're not overclocking, you can save the cpu cooler for later. though AMD's stock cooler are known to be noisy.

that PSU is a big bloody NO. not unless you want an unstable system, or worse yet, blow up $400+ worth of components.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor ($104.97 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: A-Data XPG V2 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($139.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 400W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($45.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $425.92
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

EDIT: I'm assuming you're going to re-use some older parts you already own like the case & storage. FYI if you're thinking of re-using your copy of Windows 7/8 OS, you may want to contact MS support team & explain your upgrade to them so you can re-use the OS (or lie that our motherboard fried out). the OS account is tied to your motherboard, not your HDD.

Ok I got that the power supply is bad... Thanks for your help. I still might stick with the cpu fan just for overclocking purposes

Well do you have any other power supplies that are less bad yet around the same price range? I was thinking maybe this: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-power-supply... but that also costs quite a bit more than the other one.

nope. few CM PSUs are worth mentioning, & that ain't one of them.

look into tier 1's & 2's. Tier 3 if you really have to, but be warned; they have their caveats. like the Corsairs CX high failure rates.
