I am having a problem with uTorrent but it seems to be caused by more generalized file corruption
(I use utorrent mainly downloading legal torrents for what ever its worth)

Anyway every 10 seconds I get this balloon popping up on my task bar:
utorrent: uTorrent.exe - Corrupt file
The file or directory \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\resume.dat is corrupt
and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility

Normally I would think it is a uTorrent problem only except when if I go to that folder
and try to rename/delete that file I get:
An unexpected error is preventing this operation. Make a note of this error code,
which might be useful if you get additional help to resolv this problem:

Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

Not an expert in utorrent but if its not too much of a hassle I would uninstall it with
http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/revo_uninstaller... ------- 3mb download
once downloaded and setup open the program and right click utorrent and click advanced uninstallation. follow onscreen instructions.
Then I would download utorrentportable same thing as utorrent but by using the portable version you wont get any errors with appdata or roaming folders

run the chkdsk utility and repair bad sectors on hard drive first.

Open an elevated command prompt (right click cmd and run as admin)

then run

chkdsk c:/r

where 'c' is drive letter

That should run it so it isnt in read only mode#

try that

The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Great :)  Yes the HD is probably dodgy. Get backup drive and clone it. Then wipe the other one and runs some tests maybe
