XFX R9 270 gpu - MSI FM2-A55M-E33 motherboard

Hi Guys,
I just bought a XFX r9 270 from the tiger direct retail store today. Before I bought it I checked diligently if it was compatible with the motherboard mentioned in the title, and it was listed as compatible. The gpu does indeed seat perfectly on the PCI-E slot but ONLY if I have the sata 1 and sata 2 cables disconnected from the motherboard. Am I shit out of luck? Hope this post will save A55M-E33 users the trouble if you are thinking of getting this card and thanks to anyone with a constructive reply.

PC specs
Cpu: a10-5800k
Current gpu: hd 6670
Mobo: msi-fm2-a55m-e33
Ram: 8 gb corsair 1600mhz
psu 600w
win 7 64

I am going to back to tiger direct store today to see if the right angle connectors get the card to fit properly. I read other posts where people said they had my same problem and the angle connectors fixed it.

The right angle sata cables did the trick. Now I have to figure out how to redeem AMD's promised games, its very tricky. Thanks for the suggestion =)
