Hello ...

I need 1 answer for below hardware question.

Currently my old computer running on AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ 2.0ghz (o/c to 2.2) with Asus M4A7B-E motherboard.
According to Asus website, my MOBO can run with AM2+ and AM3 CPU.

- http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A78E/HelpDesk_CPU/

i'm planning to buy a new once but apparently new AM3+ stuffs is pretty expensive will cost me more than $1000. Since i'm a student, i'm thinking of upgrading my rig.

My question is,

1 - if i upgrade my CPU from AM2 to AM3, do i need to change anything because the Asus website doesn't give any info about upgrading.
2 - i need to replace my graphic card, can DDR3/DDR5 Graphic Card memory support my Asus M4A7B-E motherboard?

Thank You.

Solution
1) you can use ant CPU that is on the list I would get the Phenom IIX4 965

2) Yes any PCIe video card DDR2, DDR3, or DDR5 should work

1. Mainly you will need to ensure that your BIOS version is at or above the one listed as being supported for the replacement CPU. If your current version is below then you will need to run a BIOS update on your motherboard before installing the new chip.
2. Not an issue only thing that matters is that the slot is compatible with your new GPU. Which is mainly a non issue now considering PCI-E has been around for some time.
