Im buildig a budget gaming rig.
I had a corsair 800d so no cost there
I5 4690
Gigabyte z97x-sli
g.skil 1600 2x4 8gb cl10
Picked up all 3 for 384 shipped.
im looking to get a non expensive but good psu.
Not sure what gpu to get I really will just be playing dayz..... any thoughts on building around the 4690? I figured I saved money with a bundle and I dont care to oc lol.
Will it be enough for gaming depending on gpu?

Great quality PSU at cheap price
XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply@ $25

For your requirements AMD R9 270/270x will be plenty.
Sapphire Radeon R9 270 2GB Dual-X Video Card

Good build, your CPU will handle any Graphics card without struggling to keep up with it. Though bit curious about Z97 motherboard with i5 4690, H97 motherboard should have been fine with i5 4690 or alternatively i5 4690k + Z97 makes more sense since you already have H100.

looks decent 3.9 boost is not to bad i would polish heat sink and cpu use diamond thermal grease pop some big fans on it and run it @4.0.

arma 2 runs good on my c2d t9550 @2.8, 9800gt 512ddr3 @ 560mhz core 812mhz ram, 8gig ram

Hang on a sec... you have a high end CL water cooler and a Z97 mobo, but the non-K version of the i5 4690? Those are multiplier locked CPUs, which basically means no overclocking.
Either grab an i5 4690K if you do want to OC now or in the future, or ditch the cooler and drop down to a H97 mobo if you're happy with stock clocks.

EDIT: Oh, I just noticed that you already purchased. That's fine then, a stock 4690 is more than adequate for gaming and should be for several years. There's just not much sense in getting a OC-able Z97 mobo and water cooler if you're stuck at stock clocks. But if you got them for a good price and already had the cooler, then that's still a great choice.

Thank you I'll check out that PSU. And I was going to wait for the 4690k then I realized I don't really care about ocing lol. My buddy may be selling me his gtx 680 at a great price 150 bucks(only a year old no strenuous gaming)
I've never had Intel so I was reluctant to spend that much lol my last build was a fx6350... Do you think I will see improvement? Like noticeable? I had the FX paired with a 680 and was pretty impressed.

■ There is noticeable difference btw FX6350 and i5 4690.

Stock FX 6350 performs same as i3 4130 in games like Watchdogs

GTX 680 @150 is a great deal, ton better than R9 270x in performance.

You can use H100 with i5 4690, will keep cooler temperature.

Ya lol had the cooler and nothing wrong with it so I figured I'd throw it in. Can't hurt right? And I got the bundle deal strictly BC it saved me 90 bucks and I figured the 4960 will last til I get the itch to oc... Then I can sell and get whatever is out at that time... Hence the z97. I was somewhat trying to short term future proof while savimng a little cash for immediate gaming purposes

Maybe trade the h100i and some cash for the 680 ;)
