Random FPS drops in Most Games for a few seconds.

Heyo,

My problem is that most games I run end up having random FPS drops, from about 80-110 FPS to about 10-30 FPS. The problem only lasts for a few seconds, then it shoots back up quickly. I run my games on High-Ultra settings. I play games like BF4, Watch_Dogs, and DayZ for example. Indie games don't seem to have that problem, it's just these more graphic-intense games.

My PC specs are as follows:

Motherboard: BIOSTAR Hi-Fi A85S3 FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4)

GPU: SAPPHIRE 100364-4GL Radeon R9 270X 4GB GDDR5

CPU (It's an APU by the way, but I think the GPU overrides it.): AMD A10-5800K Trinity Quad-Core 3.8GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W

Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000)

PSU: RAIDMAX RX-600AF 600W ATX12V / EPS12V

Hard Drive: Western Digital WD Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

CPU Cooler: CORSAIR Hydro Series H80i High Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm

I am running Catalyst 14.4 drivers (Latest).

you should check to see if your GPU is throttling. Download MSI afterburner and just run it in the background while you play a game and check for GPU core clock drops. MSI afterburner also monitors CPU usage now, so if you scroll down it should show you your CPU usage. If you notice that your CPU usage is spiking or is constantly very high, it may just be because your CPU is too slow for your GPU as A10s aren't really that great for a GPU as powerful as yours. Check your GPU usage too when the FPS drops happen, MSI afterburner monitors your FPS too so you can check the charts for when it drops and check everything else when it happened.

Here is what I got whilst playing BF4:








I think the core clock (and other things) only spiked down because of level switching, in-game it stayed at 1070 MHz the entire time. CPU usage was constantly high as you predicted, so perhaps it could be the suspect here. What do you see from these images?
