Video Card Discrepancies (unsure what actual issue is)

I have recently been experiencing issues with my GPU. A while ago, it stopped detecting my primary video card (unsure why), so now I'm using my onboard. I had a power surge earlier today while the computer was on. It turned off because of this, so I booted it back up only to discover that it was detecting my video card again. There was another power surge later in the day, and I rebooted to find out that it was no longer detecting my main video card.

The initial problem with the GPU was that it wouldn't send a signal to my monitor, but the fans on it would power on.
The power surges also aren't frequent and my computer is on a protector strip.

It all came as a pre-built computer, so I'd imagine they'd all be working fine with one another (and they have been for three years).

GPU: GeForce G100
I'm not sure what my mainboard or PSU are.

They might have been fine when you bought them, but a power surge can burn out a capacitor on a cheap (or even an expensive) PSU.

Your GPU is purely powered through the motherboard though. It is really difficult to say where this problem is coming from without some factfinding. Is the gpu recognised as present in the BIOS?

My BIOS doesn't show if anything is detected or not. There's not tab or anything for that. I also mentioned that it ended up working after a surge, but not before. I'm wondering what's causing this variability.

Not presently, no. The fans still power on on the card, however. I read online that this could also be a BIOS issue, but I'm not certain enough to risk flashing it.
