Hey..I'm looking for a motherboard for my i5 4460.
As you can see my processor I'm not looking forward to overclock it.
Basic purpose is gaming. Because of which I'm going for full form atx and not mATX.
Here are a few motherboards I chose.
ASUS H87 pro
MSI H97 gaming 3(my experience has never been good with MSI though)
AsRock H87 pro4
For gaming purposes is H97 chip set better than the H87?
Suggest if there is a better board from gigabyte or other brands.
In the same price range.
Thank youu

this one does.
the x97 chipset is the one you want now..it let you drop in a brodwell cpu latter on.
when looking at the h/z chipsets look at the number of usb and other ports on the rear of the mb and the number of sata ports on the mb. the h chipset is a cut down locked chipset.

you can use a locked cpu on a z chipset mb with no issues. the h97 will take the newer intel cpu without needing a bios update. also take a read on toms main web page about the haswell-e dropping there also some info of the newer haswells dropping end of july too.

not exactly it would let you upgrade to a unlocked broadwell chip in the future without having to buy a new mobo
