I have a HD 7870 and about the time the 14.6 beta drivers released, I updated to it. That day I had black screen crashes with my gpu fans maxing out whenever I started playing games. I downgraded to the stable 14.4 release and didn't have the problem again until today when the 14.6 RC drivers were released for wildstar. Again, the problem occurred so I downgraded to 14.4 again but the problem persists. I black screen whenever I start to play any game such as CS:GO (as soon as I enter a game) and black screened the instant I pressed "go" in furmark.

System Specs: Win 7 64 bit || i5 - 35750k (3.4ghz) || HD 7870 || 8 gb ddr3 || asrock z77 extreme4

FINAL EDIT: Power Supply died yesterday after a little over a year, must have been a faulty PSU. Plugged in my old 300w and it booted up(without gpu, not enough pins). Ordered a new PSU.

If your pc crashes as soon as you start any 3d application it is likely your power supply cannot keep up with your graphics cards demands.
Interestingly, you do not say what your power supply is which points at the problem;
nobody ever told you this is the most important item in the case.
It is, and any gaming pc needs a high quality unit of the correctwatts, in your case about an XFX 550 WATT PROCORE unit.

I have a corsair CX600 Bronze PSU. Edit : I replugged the two 6 pin connectors and that fixed the problem for a bit. I was able to play for a few hours and then it happened again I'm assuming it's a problem with the pci-e cable but I'm not really sure. Is changing my PSU the safest bet? I don't have a different system to test my gpu or psu with.
